Sometimes you just end up on the wrong shelf

On the wrong shelf In a harsh consumerist world, identity crisises can be found everywhere you look.

Attempt at branding paper as something cool

Don’t you just love how people come up with powerful product-names? This one though, is too silly. Future lasertech..? I think not. It’s paper, and it was invented somewhere around 5000 years ago. Not really futuristic.

Thoughts and stuff…

This week has been pretty hectic. A little too much of getting up early and going to bed late. Generally, I prefer the getting up late approach. Anyway, in spite of the lack of sleep, and a lot more time spend at work than I’m used to, it’s been quite a nice time. Most of all because I have been able to spend time with someone whose company I really enjoy, but probably also because I finally decided to quit smoking, which has had the fortunate effect that I am no longer forced to walk around shrouded in a mist of vaporized tar.

In other news, winter suddenly decided to come to denmark this monday. It was literally a very sudden decision. This sunday the weather was very mild, probably about 6 or 7 degrees celsius, and it has been like this since november or something, but when i woke up monday morning everything was covered in snow, and the temperature has been dropping since then. In this moment it’s somewhere around -8 degrees celsius. It’s kinda nice to finally get some winter, actually. And yes, sitting here babbling about the weather is not exactly the most meaningful way of making time pass, but I just felt like posting something today, so there you have it.

footsteps in snow
Footsteps in the snow. Taken when I walked home from work this monday.

ice on barbedwire
Ice and snow on a barbedwire-fence. Also taken on my way home.

And to round off this post, I bring you: Random observation of the day
Why does most PC’s have a friggin’ reset button? The whole idea of fitting such a contraption on a computer equals to capitulating, to the fact that the grand majority of computers needs to be forcibly rebooted every now and then, and judging by the placement of said contraption, now and then means approximately as often as you would open your CD-tray.

Blackout

So, here is a photograph, though one might be tempted to say that it isn’t really a photograph.

It was taken from my kitchen window. Even though it is quite late in the evening by now, you would usually be able to see at least the streetlights and lights from all the other apartments where I live. But as of tonight, it isn’t the case. It seems that someone has decided to cut of electricity to most of Hørsholm. A number of different problems have arisen:

  1. One of my first thought was something like “Well, nothing to do about it. I’ll just have a good time and make myself a cup of hot chocolate”. Unfortunately, the nice creamy beverage that I had expected is well out of my reach, since there is now no steady flow of electrons to magically power my milk steamer.
  2. Well, cold chocolate milk wouldn’t be too bad either, but I’m not really confident that opening my refrigerator is a very good idea, since that too has been denied the life-giving joy of electricity. So, the price for a cup of cold chocolate milk is something in the vicinity of a whole lot of rotten food. Not really worth it.
  3. The hitherto simple task of going to the bathroom now requires either stumbling around, trying not to step on a cat, or carrying a lit candle, with the risk of getting pretty damned hot wax on certain exposed body parts. Yes, some people might find that enjoyable, but I don’t really want to expand my horizons in that particular area tonight.

Anyway, the situation could be a lot worse. I still have around 100 minutes of battery life on my MacBook, and my mobile phone bill is already ridiculously high, mostly due to data charges, so I guess I’ll just do some surfing.

Maybe I’ll even try to find out what happened to the power. Maybe a nuclear plant blew up somewhere in Sweden.

Late night fast food

My oven
This is my oven. Why have i picked up this crazy habit of having to eat some kind of fast food every night between 1 and 2 am?

And yes, I am only posting this to pass time until my pizza is ready. Which is about now. Yum!

Exodus of letters

Why do I have this habit of indecisiveness? My first blog was hosted on my own server, using WordPress. Then i moved it to blogger. Then to a custom page made in Apples iWeb, and then back to blogger after they came out of the “new blogger beta” thing. And here I am, back with good old WordPress! I hope this will prove to be a longer stay than the previous ones.
